On December 31st 2008 Mitch was involved in a motorbike accident. As a result his left leg was amputated above the knee; he suffered a brachial plexus injury, which resulted in a loss of function to his left arm, and several other injuries to his right leg. Mitch was a patient at Royal North Shore for 4 months following the accident and underwent over 13 operations in the course of 18 months. Mitch was only 21 years of age.
Prior to the accident taking place Mitch was nothing short of your average, everyday 21 year old guy. However it was clear after such a devastating accident that his life had instantly changed forever. Since his accident he has regained an active lifestyle and successfully started his own business, a 24 hour gym, Good Vibes Fitness. Mitch endeavours to live each day to the fullest and approaches life’s many challenges with a positive attitude and a willingness to push beyond his comfort zone. Mitch is described as an inspiration by his friends, family and peers with a passion and enthusiasm for life that is second to none.
